Softball Rankings: Bishop Amat, Chino Hills lead the way

SOFTBALL PREVIEW: Bishop Amat High School felt it left a little on the table last softball season.
The Lancers hope to make up for it this year, and judging by who they have back from a team that advanced to the CIF-Southern Section Division 3 semifinals, this could be a special time for Bishop Amat, which begins the season ranked No. 1 in the Valley.
“They are committed to go all the way,” said Bishop Amat coach Jesse Mendez, whose Lancers return four core players who keyed last season’s run to the division final four. “They’ve won a couple of league titles, but still haven’t accomplished the goal of a CIF title.

1. Bishop Amat (24-7) – The Lancers have all the pieces for a run at a CIF-SS title
2. Chino Hills (32-3) – Can the Huskies repeat? You bet
3. Los Altos (20-8) – The favorite in the Hacienda
4. San Dimas (22-8) – Saints should rule the VVL and challenge for a D-5 title
5. St. Lucy’s (24-6) – Smith leads the way
6. Ayala (19-12) – Is there enough back to contend in the Sierra?
7. Charter Oak (14-11) – They can hit, but success will be decided in the circle
8. Bonita (18-8) – Losing Sanchez is a key blow for the Bearcats
9. South Hills (15-12) – Never doubt the Huskies
10. Duarte (20-4) – Strong returning core has Falcons eying repeat

      I agree his been doing this for years, He just continues his smoke and mirrors of a program, If he was any good he would have won a CIF championship already, God knows he’s had the talent.

    Fly on the wall. It was one player not players?? The other player quit on her own against her mothers wishes… As always, Bonita parents are always in the way, especially one over bearing person has reached out to the basketball coach to see if he will take the job?? Sounds like a witch hunt..

    The parents that are crying are the parents that were not at the game…we were and we saw the disrespect by the catcher, one wonders?

      Perhaps the feelings were mutual, Did you ever bother to ask the catcher? I’m sure you didn’t and still post a negative comment towards the kid.

    Over bearing Parent should be careful when talking in the bleachers….Could be a good case for Slander?? We have passed along what was heard to Coach Carlson and his Administration…

      You should also pass on all the negative comments this so called coach says to the girls on a daily basis ,As for ANY bleacher comments, Really…. What’s said the bleachers is to be taken with a grain of salt, If carlson cant handle it, He should not be coaching, Its part of the job. Get thicker skin. As for his program, He’s had his chance the last 4 years and he never learns from his own mistakes (ego maybe?) and he continues on his destructive ways of manifesting a program that teaches spite and resentment, That is no way to build a team that will be successful. He needs to go already.

      It’s a shame that nothing but a negative comment emanates from someone that claims to be a parent yet comments like a child. I’m sure you’ll complain some more about my comment and run and tell the coach what evil lurks on these boards!

    1. Bishop Amat (4-2, San Dimas Tournament Champions)
    2. Chino Hills (7-3, finished as Consolation Runner Ups at Tournament of Champions; 3-2 in tourney)
    3. Los Altos (3-2, play San Dimas at 10 PM tonight, playing for 9th place in SD tourney)
    4. San Dimas (3-3, play Los Altos at 10 PM tonight, playing for 9th place in SD tourney)
    5. St. Lucy’s (1-2, have dropped off the face of the Earth in regards to Maxpreps, I think I heard they were playing for 5th at Brea tourney)
    6. Ayala (4-1, haven’t played in a while; somehow went from 5-1 to 4-1 on Maxpreps)
    7. Charter Oak (3-1, played Northview today for 3rd place in SD tourney, haven’t heard the result)
    8. Bonita (2-2, no games on Maxpreps since Feb. 28)
    9. South Hills (6-2, finished as consolation champs at SD tourney)
    10. Duarte (3-2, already have half the loses they had all of last year)
