La Salle’s Kandyce Smith transfers to Bonita to create dynamic duo with Nikki Wheatley

Kandyce Smith, who averaged 17 points for the La Salle girls basketball team, has transferred to Bonita, where she will team up with Nikki Wheatley, one of the best points guards in the Southland. Smith and Wheatley play on the same travel ball team and both will be seniors in the fall. Smith competed in the Del Rey League against giants Serra, St. Bernard, Bishop Amat and Bishop Montgomery. Amat coach Richard Wiard said Smith is the real deal. There is also speculation that another talented area player — a freshman — will transfer to Bonita by next season.

I seen her play, she is a beast. Combo of Smith & Wheatley, wow sounds like a championship coming for Bonita.

Good luck trying to gain eligibility.

Everybody’s eligible if you have not noticed. Some coaches have even began playing athletes that have been ruled ineligible. Coaches are starting to give the ruling authorities the big birdy. It’s the wild, wild west out there
