    Amat plays the all star team with all the transfers available . Serra is to talented and deep for amat . Expect serra to go undefeated . Bonita vs Serra in final .amat second place .

          New Coach? I agree Fred. I think some people are really too tough on the guy. All he has done is make Amat one of the best baseball schools in Southern California.

          Who among active coaches in the Valley gets more D1 talent year after year & competes in D3 or lower?? You dont even have to be a “good” coach to win D4/D5 championships with that type of talent..

    The bigger concern for Amat that I see is that the entire program is struggling from the Freshman teams up to the Varsity. They had the preseason #5 ranking in the LA Times partly because of the amount of returning players this year. Hopefully, they can turn it around.

      3 pitchers from last years freshmen team are on varsity . 2 of them should be moved back to jv to get them some playing time .freshmen have 3 players on varsity . 2 of the freshman start and a freshmen pitcher started against canyon . That would be the core of the freshmen team, an ace pitcher , shortstop and utility player .

        Hopefully that’s a good core that can help build in the next two years. From my MaxPreps stalking it looks like 6 out of their 8 losses have been by 2 runs or less. They need more sticks but I guess everybody does. From watching high school baseball this season, life is so much easier for pitchers with the BBCOR bats.

        The freshman just won their tournament beating a lot of very strong teams. The amat freshman team dominated in every game they played. The other freshman team won a tournament earlier in the year. I don’t know what you are seeing, but amat baseball lower levels are looking very good.

    It’s no surprise Serra beats Amat . With 6 good transfers added to a good team and now eligible . Expect them to go undefeated rest of year . I saw them against diamond bar and held diamond bar to 3 hits . Didn’t get to see all American future first round pick Dominic smith play . They probably rested him to get some of the new players time . Serra was ranked in the nation in preseason polls due to there Allstar roster . Now with the bates brothers and Marcus Wilson available they will be unstoppable .

        Didn’t see the whole game . At the end I asked someone an they said there was only 3 hits .

        • Serra did not use any of their pitchers against DB, they used 2 position players to pitch. Dom Smith had a bruised shoulder and did not play in first 3 games of Anaheim Lions Tourney. He is healthy now.
