Boys Tennis: Wilson lone area to receive a seed; 18 to be in postseason

Wilson was the lone area team to be seeded, receiving the No. 2 slot in Division 4 when the CIF-SS released its Boys Tennis playoff pairings on Monday.
The Wildcats (17-1), who went 10-0 in the Valle Vista League, will open the playoffs at home on Wednesday against either San Gabriel or Godinez, who meet in the wild-card round today.
Overall, 18 area schools will be in the playoffs, which begins today with wild-card matches. The first round is slated for Wednesday, with the second and quarterfinal rounds scheduled for Friday and Monday, respectively. The semifinals are May 15, with the finals at Claremont Club on May 17.
All matches before the finals are scheduled for 3 p.m.
Eight area teams have wild-card matches today, including traditional powers Walnut (12-3) and South Hills (14-3), who are in Division 2. The Mustangs host Flintridge Prep (8-7), while the Huskies are at home against Golden Valley (8-8).
Other noted first-round matches include Ayala (9-9) at Diamond Bar (11-6) in Division 2 and El Monte (10-6) at Duarte (12-4) in Division 5.
