Future Stars: Bishop Amat Running Back Torrie Sweet and his freshman highlight film

With Dionza Blue on his way to Boise State, running back is a big question for Bishop Amat. Could Amat sophomore-to-be Torrie Sweet be the answer? He sure looks the part in his freshman highlight package. Anyone out there with highlight videos, share them with me and I’ll post it.

Torrie, has some nice moves/feet, good vision, and runs hard. I don’t see the great speed, and I think his pad level is a tad bit high taking hits he shouldn’t. However, he looks talented and has ability to work with. I don’t see this kid, starting as a soph, but possibly getting some carries and experience somewhere in the season. Since BA plays such a tough schedule and has so much riding on league games He is really going to have to blossom over the summer to see extended time. If he was a lower level school, he probably would be in consideration to start. But not in the Pac 5. BA will probably go with a JR or Sr. However, things happen over the summer.

  • Why Not

In total agreement GP. Kid ha some tools but young backs need to learn to setup blocks an that takes patience. Combine with the fa t that the breakaway speed isn’t there yet, he’s definently a year away from being a special back. The freshmen rb at Notre Dame however is looks the part to start or get carries for the team immediately.

I am always skeptical of small backs with out break away speed. If he was bigger, I would be ok with that…But I would look at getting him some time on JV then suit up for the varsity game. Let him play on special teams so he can feel the speed, and power of var. those BIg lb’s lay wood and you don’t want to ruin his confidence too early.

Notre dame was very talented also . Before losing to amat they where blowing out everyone . They beat serra freshmen team 41-16 , beat chaminade by a couple tds . So expect them to be tough also in a couple years .
