If you’ve ever stood in line for a hot dog and Glendora High School, you probably noticed the retired jersey’s of the school’s all-time greats who helped longtime coach Mike LeDuc win four CIF-Southern Section titles.
jacobsenA few of those guys are about to put those jersey’s back on.
Casey Jacobsen, the CIF-SS all-time leading scorer with 3,284 points from 1996-99 and Cameron Murray, the section’s fifth all-time leading scorer with 2,842 points from 1991-94, will headline one of the most attractive alumni games in memory Saturday at Glendora High School at 5 p.m, when it takes on the Tartans’ varsity squad.
And guess what, admission is free.
LeDuc confirmed that eight of the 12 players who scored over 1,000 points in their Tartans’ career are committed to play for no better reason than bringing the past and present together.
Along with Jacobsen and Murray, others confirmed are Chris Clark (1999), Josh Giles (1996), Davon Roberts (2004), James Powell (2005), Justin Sapp (2005), Calvin Smith (2010) and others.
“It’s going to bring back a lot of good thoughts, good memories of people who represented our school and program,” LeDuc said.
With the exception of Tracy Murray, who couldn’t attend because he was out of town, the Tartans alumni team is a collection of what made Glendora one of the best traditions in the Southland.
“It’s really about trying to connect our alumni guys who brought so much tradition to the program with our new guys,” LeDuc said. “I want to make sure our players know who they’re and meet them. I’m excited about it.”
