Once again, that’s a game of the night too, it’s the only area game on Thursday night, should be a huge crowd again. But still disappointed they don’t play at their home schools. Why in the world would San Dimas build its beautiful stadium and NOT host the Smudge Pot. Citrus, for me personally, takes away the charm and the intimate atmosphere that I grew to love about the Smudge Pot.

    • Saints Fan

You are right, would love the intimacy but I think as you stated, it will be a HUGE crowd and one which could not be accommodated at SD without bringing in temporary Bleachers. I thought I heard someone say that bringing in enough temporary seating cost the district more than just hosting at Citrus. As much as I love the new Field, honestly the Seating for fans is just so so. Not enough elevation change and even in the top row you still are looking just over the Bench’s heads. Unfortunately, except for Smudgepot, there is never enough of a crowd to justify new seating. It amazed me last year to look over and see the visitor bleachers mostly empty every game…. even the Monrovia folks did not pack their side. Shame HS football is so much fun, but in the Mid Valley Division, there just are not huge crowds.

      • Aaron

The last one I attended in the fall of 2009 which was at San Dimas was not well attended by the SD home crowd. You had two extra bleachers in the corners on your side and they were empty whereas on the Bonita side it wa overflowing.

In regards to the game, it was tough, and I honestly felt we were outcoached. Kids played tough though. What it will take to get new seating at Glenn Davis I have no idea but it’s about time those stands were yanked out and given something that was befitting its namesake. San Dimas Boosters built theirs, we’ll need to do the same.

you hit the bulls eye fred..why not play at the home school

  • Football Fan

San Dimas preseason schedule should prepare them well for Monrovia

    • GP AKA Green Machine

Monrovia’s preseason will do the same

  • GP AKA Green Machine

I’ll be rooting for SD…that’s one for my favorite rivalries. Huge crowd, great game…best way to kick of 2013

    • Aaron

Rooting against a fellow green and white cat…what is this ;).

    • Matt Cabrera

      Same here GO SDHS!

Fred nice pictures! Alright AZUSA, good to see Coach Scherf going hard this preseason playing Whitter, and Fred is that Whitter Christan? Also have Arcadia on the preseason schedule! Way to go hard Coach Scherf, and come the regular season AZUSA should be ready! Been driving by the AZTECS and looks like they have a good size squad out there. Heard good things about AZUSA football also and this team should do alright, compared to last years team. Must say i’m going to miss seeing AZUSA playing San Dimas, yes they blew AZUSA out last year, but the match up was getting good and AZUSA was getting so close. Another season coming up… SWEET!

  • James Escarcega

I have a feeling that I will be seeing either you and/or your cousin Mike in Week 9 at Crespi High School when Amat plays Crespi…. just like I did two years ago!!

It’s the summer, and we are working on the football magazine.

The best seven-on-seven passing tournament of the summer is set for July 13 at Huntington Beach Edison, and the matchups are so good it’s too bad they can’t put on shoulder pads.

Only the top two teams in each pool advance to the championship round, so someone good isn’t going to make it in Pool D, which is made up of Edison, Gardena Serra, Long Beach Poly and JSerra.

Pool A has Mater Dei, Westlake, La Habra and Narbonne. Pool B has St. John Bosco, Corona Centennial, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame and Mission Hills. Good luck on picking two teams to make it out of that pool.

Pool C has Bishop Amat, Santa Margarita, Valencia and Los Alamitos.

Action begins at 9 a.m. on that Saturday. Championship round begins at 1 p.m.

It’s a great end to the summer of high school football~

Week 6 – El Monte @ South El Monte – Should be a great season opener for the Mission Valley League.
