Where does John Sciarra rank among Bishop Amat’s all-time QBs?

As Bishop Amat gets ready for its Aug. 30 season opener at home against Santa Margarita, check out the story about former QB John Sciarra, who will speak at the Lancers’ kickoff dinner … Where does Sciarra rank about Amat’s all-time best QBs?

By Steve Ramirez, San Gabriel Valley Tribune
When it comes to high school football, few in Valley history can match the success of Bishop Amat alum John Sciarra.
Sciarra was CIF-Southern Section Player of the Year after leading the Lancers to their second consecutive section title in 1971, was 1976 Rose Bowl Game MVP after leading UCLA to an upset of then No. 1 Ohio State and played in Super Bowl 15 for the Philadelphia Eagles in 1981.

Heard coach hags got ran over at practice and seperated his shoulders . Look at amat td club web page . Has some good passing league pics and a statement from Hagerty on this next season.

  • AMAT 73

Well he is second only to Pat Haden in my book . But he probably led one of the best AMAT teams in history 7 all CIF players that also went undefeated the entire season . Also played on the 70 team as a DB and special teamer . Great athlete who came to us along with a few other great ones out of Mission High along with our beloved Coach Tate Duff What is interesting is that he holds very few records at AMAT .

    • What?

Haden was the better passer but Sciarra was by far the better athlete. Sciarra would not have been able to compete at USC as a QB in the McKay Pro Style Offense but in the same breath Haden would not have been able to compete at UCLA in the Pepper Rodgers Wishbone Offense or the Vermel Veer Offense. Both were very good QB’s in their own style, I would rank them as 1 and 1a. as Amats best QB’s ever.
