TRIBUNE SUPER 35 RANKINGS
1. Bishop Amat (3-1)
— The Lancers have been far from perfect, but they’re getting wins and beating Charter Oak again was important for its rep in the area. They should breathe a little easier with a gimmie at St. Paul next.
2. Chino Hills (3-1) – Has without a doubt become the Sierra League favorite and not sure if anyone will touch them in league after how it dismantled West Covina and beat Tesoro. Hey, they’re that good.
3. Glendora (3-0) — Wins over Bonita, Ayala with Charter Oak up next. You have to give it up to the Tartans. They might not be Baseline league ready, but they’re still a darn-good Sierra-type team.
4. Los Altos (4-0) — Is it the areas fourth-best team? I’m not so sure, but they’ve earned this spot and will have several chances to prove it in the Hacienda.
5. Bonita (3-1) – Starting to wonder after narrowly escaping a Claremont team that was defeated by Walnut a week earlier. Inconsistency? That was the Bearcats’ problem last year too.
6. South Hills (2-1) – Huskies had a week to rest to get ready for Monrovia and has to feel better about its chances after San Dimas gave the ‘Cats all it could handle last week.
7. Charter Oak (0-3) — Don’t care what the record is, they’re still the second-best in the Sierra behind Chino Hills. I’m not ready to sell, they still do so many things well.
8. Northview (4-0) — This is the week they get to earn their ranking, taking on defending Valle Vista league champ San Dimas in the league opener.
9. West Covina (2-2) – After a promising 2-0 start, the Bulldogs have lost two straight, though losing to South Hills and Chino Hills is nothing for fans to worry about. If they beat Diamond Ranch this week, they’re back on track.
10. Damien (2-1) — Are the Spartans Sierra League contenders? Maybe not a league title, but the past two weeks show they could be one of the top three. If they win at St. Francis Friday, then they really shoot up the rankings.
