Glendora loses a heartbreaker in final seconds to Los Osos, 27-26

STORY: The Glendora High School football team had its hands all over the ball Thursday night. Except when it counted the most.
The Tartans tipped passes, were right there when Los Osos fumbled the ball and constantly surrounded the Grizzlies on defense. But when it counted the absolute most, Los Osos quarterback Jacob Crain completed a 10-yard touchdown pass to Durron Burton with 8 seconds to play to give Los Osos a 27-26 Baseline victory at Citrus College.

    Fred,
Sidney (Amat) has 7 picks..Do you know what the single season record for Amat is?

    • AMAT 73

      12th
Season 9 by Frank Capiello 67 and also George Chance 71
Career 15 Daylon 94 so Sidney has a good shot at both .

      • The stands

Has Sydney returned a kick off for a touchdown yet? If not, it’s only a matter of time. The kid is a tremendous athlete.

      • 12th man

Thanks..I was curious to what the record was..

      • http://sgvtribune.com/ Galileo

Amat 73…how about Gary Walker,Bob Berg,Bob Beran, Phil Convertino and Steve Wee….I was under the impression that there was a 5-6 tie at the top for a season…..

        • AMAT 73

          Galileo,
Blasts from the past to say the least . Not listed and only the three are listed and none of the names listed in any of the interception records . Most per game is 3 by quite a few and I think that was either beroken or tied this year by Sidney and possibly Ortega . Walker class of 62 I believe does a few offensive records at the QB position though .

    • GP AKA Green Machine

Whoa…That might get him ALL CiF as a 10th grader…

      • 12th man

This kid is a phenomenal athlete..every time he picks he’s a threat to return it all the way..From what i’m hearing through my inside sources is that he’s attracting attention from big time schools (D-1) recruiting wise..He will definitely be fun to watch the next couple of years~

        • GP AKA Green Machine

I watched Tre from his days at Duarte Hawks… One Word “Stud”.He will end up at a pac 12 school…He has the potential to be better than Blue because he had to play RB too. If Tre plays one side of the ball he won’t get banged up taking hits, and should do great things for Amat as a shut down corner… However, knowing Amat’s depth issues…they will have to put him on Offense next year…Especially since he is dangerous after the pick…

          • Lancerito

The kid Sydney is a TRUE receiever and should be showcased as such! The d side of the ball should be the gravey on the top.

Why do all da quotes from Glendora coach be like a cave man? Not like he be bloggin lol

  • Not So Fast My Friend

Glendora should be able to get past Los Osos. The Grizzlies are still a good year away from getting their sea legs back under them under first year HC Kevin Price. He’s done a good job with them, but Glendora is more polished at this stage and certainly more hungry.

The bigger question is if Glendora’s two losses have zapped their confidence. if so, then LO will beat them. Glendora needs to get off the snide tonight.

    • SGV FB Dad

LO took RC to the wire, while RC humiliated Glendora. I think Glendora has a chance if they come out agrressive and play mistake free football. But I would give the edge to LO, as they are a pretty talented team.

      • Not So Fast My Friend

LO vs RC is a rivalry game. You and I both know in rivalry games anything can happen. Those two traditionally play each other hard with free coupons to an ice bath passed out afterwards. That said LO lost to their usual group, Upland, and Rancho. They also lost to CO and Alemany. In that sense, Glendora beat Upland (or did Upland beat themselves), and CO which is why I gave them the edge.

I like what Price has done over there, but he’s still reshaping that program into his image. They are talented, but they’re weak in spots whereas Glendora isn’t, or shouldn’t be.

Again, my biggest concern is which Glendora team shows up. The one whose ego has been bruised or the one on a mission. I’m expecting them to be on a mission. Glendora wins in a close one.

Last thing, Glendora has LO at home and that should help.

C’mon gtown lets bring it tonight

  • Inland_FB_Fan

LIke I said all along….. GLENDORA IS OVER RATED!!! They Squeeked by mediocre teams early on and now they are one game from missing the playoffs…again (unless they get an at large berth)

    • Not So Fast My Friend

I’m not challenging what you’re saying, but I find it interesting that we’re chastising them for “squeaking by” teams that include CO, but are giving props to CO for being 4-4. I’m pretty sure the CO faithful are going to be offended you called them, indirectly mind you, mediocre. LOL

A win is a win and a loss is a loss.

      • Inland_FB_Fan

The mediocre teams I was referring to are Ayala (#259 in CA), So. Hills (#280), Bonita (#279), & Claremont (#459). They beat these teams by 8 pts or less…..not impressed.

        • GP AKA Green Machine

Remember they are doing this with a soph QB…

      • OuttaYourMindTrib

C-No IS mediocre at best. To Conley come up with a 7 point win against A-freaking-YALA!!! Oh, I’m sorry it was a 14 point win when C-No scored once more unnecessarily with about a minute and a half left in the game. They only scored 21 against Ayala? Puhhhhhhhhhhh-thetic. The Sierra is no crown this year. Some of the most dreadful football I’ve EVER seen was played this year in the Sierra. There is NO Sierra team getting out of the first round this year.

Thump your chest all you want about “winning league”, but just because your team won doesn’t mean your team is any good.

        • Not So Fast My Friend

          haha! You said it! lol

    • MonkeyWrench

If da at large was to came from da baseline which aint likely it would be the 4th place team. Da only snerio that has GHS finishing 4th is if Upland loses da last 2. Dats the only team day have da tiebreaker on. Upland last 2 are Etiwanda and Rancho. Etiwanda game is a 50/50 Rancho be heavy favorite. So Upland win tonight it would be all over for GHS.

  • Dustin ohara

How can we follow the game tonight

  • 12th man

Los Osos wins in a close one~ 21-17

  • Not So Fast My Friend

I’ll guess I’ll keep going with my NFL Head Coach Quotes.

As for Glendora, “They are who we thought they were!”

Certainly not in the same context as Dennis Greene’s famous meltdown, but Glendora’s glass slipper has been shattered and the pieces swept off the floor. What a devastating way to lose a game, 27-26 in the last seconds. That’s an uppercut to their chin and a virtual knockout of their confidence. Three words Glendora, “Learn to finish.”

At this point the expectation level for Glendora in the post-season should be minimal. I’m not saying they can’t regain their stride, they can, but it’s going to be very difficult.

As for Los Osos, congrats, the toughness they displayed is pure Coach Price. Under the previous coach, when LO was down 16-7, they would have started to crumble.

    • Inland_FB_Fan

I totally agree. Cinderella’s pumpkin left them hangin’ @ Citrus college last night.

      • Not So Fast My Friend

        ROFL LMAO!

  • Inland_FB_Fan

    Hello Mr. Karma,
    How do you do???

Looks like Glendora got a taste of their own medicine again last night. They have eeked out so many wins this year and now they get beaten in 2 close ones. They went from being the #1 team in the SGV to missing the playoffs ( they might get the at large berth only to get beat down in the first round). I told you guys, they were over rated!

  • should of could of

Glendora could very easily be 8-1 with their only loss being Rancho then again they could just as easily be 1-8 this year with their only win being Claremont.
