PREPXTRA: Fred, Aram and Steve Discuss Week 10 scenarios and make predictions

MID-VALLEY DIVISION WEEK 10 MADNESS, has there ever been anything like it? It’s rare that one division can pack so much drama into the final week of the high school football season, but that’s exactly what the Mid-Valley Division will do this Friday.
Five, count ‘em, five league championship games will take place across the division and in addition to determining league title winners, the top-four seeds of the upcoming playoffs will also be deciphered.

Fred, come on now, you don’t think players having been in scenarios has ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT… spoken like a complete NON Athlete. EMOTION is HUGE. Being able to control emotion under a stressful situation is HUGE. There are those instances where being too young to know any better can help that is for sure, but for you to say for “Coaches it matters” for “Players it doesn’t” is actually just laughable…. come on Greenie, come get ‘em. Not So Fast come on now, you played at Oregon…. school the boy…. hahahaha I was right there in the conversation and loving it, no problem with you taking Pomona, but you made me almost wet myself with that comment.

Coaches have experience, but “experience” among players will not play a role in Friday’s games. Most varsity players have the “same” amount of football experience. What’s San Dimas’ players experience in championship games? A blowout win over Northview last year year? C’mon. And I’m probably more athlete than you’re — even at my advanced age …lol

Seriously darn you are going to make this easy… BONITA, easy one. We looked horrible on Defense , let’s see that night there was ONLY 1 returning starter on Defense. We started 2 Sophmores (pretty sure Freshman football DID NOT prepare them for the Smudgepot as their 1st Varsity Game), 5 Juniors who had NOT started a Varsity Game on Defense and 3 Seniors who had NEVER started a Varsity Game… that is EXACTLY why a lack of experience killed us against a Back like Jake Payton and an experienced QB like Tanner Diebold. Let’s see, more lack of experience…. are you aware that Defensive Coordinator Mustain HAS NOT been coaching all year??? No experienced defensive coordinator to keep it together with 10 NON Experienced “kids” playing Smudgepot with ALL the Emotion Leading up to it because of the DRAMA …. we failed and struggled for the next 3 weeks.
Your example #2, the blowout win over Northview last year. We DOMINATED Defensively a Northview team that was coming in looking every bit like they would give us a tough time. How did we DOMINATE them, with an extremely experienced Defense that had ONLY 1 Non Senior leading the charge.

” And I’m probably more athlete than you’re — even at my advanced age …lol ” OOOOH little Freddie, you need to remember you never know who is out here behind the keyboard…. Your wet dream….. Div I college athlete, 3 year starter at LB for a perennial BIG 5 Playoff team (you ‘member the Big 5 Right….. Pac 5 now), so grab your little soccer ball and run home now…. LOL

        • FredJ

I’ve seen some of those linebackers ten years later … it’s not pretty.

            Fred ,
What’s in the water over there at the Trib . You and Aram are bit edgy lately . Don’t take the banter about your rankings so serious . Remember what my old pal Jcaz use to say , it’s all schitz and giggles on here . Hey come to think of ti where is Jcaz ????????

          • FredJ

The banter is fun, and I’m having a fun time with Saints Parent/Coach … He wants golf, he’s got golf, where do we tee ‘em up?

          • Saints Parent

Ahh Freddie, my match this weekend is booked, so Sunday 11/17 6:40 am at Goose Creek GC in Mira Loma (Jurupa Valley to be exact). Already have the Tee Time. There you go !

          • FredJ

6:40 on a Sunday in Mira Loma? No thanks, lol

          • Saints Parent

            Just what I thought….

          • New York

            Freddy,
Al Bundy once scored four touchdowns in one game! No, not a season. In one game!

          • FredJ

Love this talk, I was 5-5, 125 in HS … what else could I do but run cross country, play soccer, tennis and golf. And I’d beat Saints parent in all four, lol. What’s he got on me .. football?

          • Saints Parent

Seriously, you wanna still go…. I was just gonna let it die wow. Remember you are the little leprechaun that brought up you were a better athlete, I didn’t need to go there nor ever intended to. I played Football and baseball. 5-5 125 lb guy’s are always the S#$% talkers or the yell leaders ! … Tell you what, I’ll take you in Golf today too…. That’s a place you don’t want to go.

      • Saints Parent

Before you get your little panties in a bunch, I was commenting on your “general statement” that Player experience has NOTHING to do with it – not saying SD is walking into this game with far more experience…. First – tell that to Monrovia in last years FINAL’s vs Paraclete. The Clete had a very very good team, but Monrovia rolled into that contest and made them look like a JV team. Sure, they had a ton of talent, however they also had a Starting line up FULL of Players who had been there done that a couple of times so the Emotions of a Finals game was similar to other game for them. So please don’t insult the “real athletes” out here by saying their experience in Big Situations has nothing to do with it….

Aram, come on now. Suburban League #2? Once you get past Norwalk the Suburban #2 is a 5-4 Mayfair team (soon to be 5-5 after losing to Norwalk this week) and the #3 is a 3-6 La Mirada Team. Then you have the likes of Artesia, Cerritos, Bellflower and Glen, none of whom have impressive resumes. You can make an argument that the San Gabriel Valley League would be the top league in the Southeast with the top 3 teams in their league but the other 3 teams in that league(Gahr, Lynwood, and Warren) are horrible. Realistically the Hacienda is the top overall league in the Southeast, with 5 legitimate playoff teams and only 3 +1 playoff spot available. The #5 (who won’t be in the playoffs) from the Hacienda is probably better then the #2′s from both the Pacific and Del Rio Leagues. League ratings for the Southeast should look like this: 1- Hacienda, 2 – San Gabriel Valley, 3 – Suburban, 4 – Del Rio, 5 – Pacific.

Here is a scenario for PAC 5 that can in a small chance get Amat in playoffs if they win . If crespi beats alemany and Amat wins .
    1. Notre dame- automatic
    2. Crespi – automatic
    3. Alemany – ? Maybe birth
    4. amat – miracle to get in

    Trinity league:
If bosco beats servite. Olu beats mater dei and Santa margarita wins .

    1 . Bosco
    2. Olu

3 teams would be 2-3 . MD , SM and servite . This is where I don’t know happens . Mater dei beat servite and SM beat mater dei . If they flip coins and it ends up somehow with mater dei at 3rd , SM at 4th and servite in 5th . Mater dei will get automatic 3rd bid .

alemany would then get first bid . amat because of the head to head win over Santa margarita would get second bid .

Correct me if I am wrong .

    • AMAT 73

      VA,
Even the good Lord’s best miracle to date couldn’t get us in .
