FRIDAY’S RESULTS
BASELINE LEAGUE

Glendora 38, Alta Loma 3 — Great finish for the Tartans who will likely apply for an at-large in the Inland. Will they get it? Probably not.
HACIENDA LEAGUE
Diamond Bar 60, Walnut 28 – Brahmas return after suspensions and long absence to punch its ticket to the Southeast playoffs.
MISSION VALLEY LEAGUE
Arroyo 17, Rosemead 13 Went back and forth before the Knights finally pulled it out to win the Mission Valley League title and finish 9-1.
Gabrielino 56, El Monte 28 — Just a tough year for the Lions.
Mountain View at South El Monte, 7 p.m.
MONTVIEW LEAGUE
Azusa 26, Bassett 21 The Aztecs had already clinched a share of the Montview but got it outright with win over the tough Olympians.
Duarte 69, Ganesha 18 — Falcons finish season in style.
La Puente vs. Gladstone
Sierra Vista vs. Workman
SERRA LEAGUE
Bishop Amat 21, Loyola 16 — Lancers avoid going winless in league for the first time since … the 70s? Now Lancers hoping for miracle of all miracles, an at-large playoff berth in Pac-5. Don’t hold your breath.
SIERRA LEAGUE
Charter Oak 47, Claremont 7 – Chargers go undefeated in Sierra to claim third straight league title.
Damien 42, Chino Hills 28 – The shocker of all shockers. Damien scores 28 unanswered points to pull it out and finish in a three-way tie. But Chino Hills and South Hills won the coin flips, leaving Damien out of the playoffs.
South Hills 42, Ayala 20 South Hills would have clinched a playoff spot as long as Damien lost. With the Spartans winning, Chino Hills, Damien and South Hills finish in a three-way tie. But South Hills gets in on coin flip, finishes second.
VALLE VISTA LEAGUE
San Dimas 49, Pomona 6 Let me tell you something, as long as they avoid Monrovia, the Saints can get to the Mid-Valley title game. What a great win over undefeated Pomona.
Baldwin Park 35, Wilson 13 — Braves finish strong.
Northview at Nogales

We’ve got everything covered on championship Friday. I’ll cover and tweet Pomona at San Dimas for the Valle Vista league title and Aram will cover and tweet Arroyo at Rosemead for the Mission Valle League title. Mike the Cousin and Steve Ramirez will be at the Rio Hondo League title game, Monrovia at San Marino. Mike will launch scribble live from San Marino and will have updates of all the games, including Bishop Amat, who is trying to avoid going winless in league for the first time since … the 70s? David Felton will provide updates from the Almont League title game, Schurr vs. Montebello and Will Routt will cover and tweet the Montview League title game, Arroyo at Bassett. Henry Montemayor will update on Diamond Bar at Walnut. Diamond Bar needs a win to clinch a playoff berth. If they lose, West Covina gets the automatic berth in the Hacienda. Diamond Ranch and Los Altos already punched their tickets. It should be a wild night, return after the games for the PrepXtra Live at 11 p.m.

For Joe Amat or any Lancers historian, when was the last time Amat went winless in league. I can’t find anytime since 2000, and Mike the Cousin pointed out they made the playoffs 19 straight years from 1980 to 1999 … Not sure what their record was for the ’99-00 season.

    • GP AKA Green Machine

Fox sports Says Amat get’s in with a win…I hope they win tonight…Amat 73 if you are out there good luck and good luck to the Lancer nation!

Mtown will be traveling deep tonight…Monrovia is not looking past SM…Let’s do it!

      • Valley Athletics

I doubt it . I think Santa margarita would have to end up in fourth for that head to head win to get them in .

      • AMAT 73

        GP ,
Really , I thought we were done as far a chance at making the playoffs .There is an inside joke at AMAT that God is a LANCER so you never know about his ability to get AMAT in . hahahaha . I do see a Win for the LANCERS tonight, as not one member of this team wants to go out like this . Good luck to the Cats as well because you know there are a lot of folks out there hoping for the opposite . Have a good time tonight celebrating another league title .

        • GP AKA Green Machine

Lol…God was Lancer, but then he Transfered to Monrovia lol…Good luck!

          • AMAT 73

Then he better change the flag on his front lawn because it’s still blue with a golden A . HAHAHAHA .

          • GP AKA Green Machine

You mean Green and White!!!! You all better win tonight…or everyone is going to transfer to Monrovia!! LOL JK…I hope the CIF is not reading…

            GP AKA Division 11.5 Chump

The only reasons for transfering to Ganrovia are becuase of the great EBT program in the city and for the post grad degree (errrrrr…GED napkin) from your high school…! Just ask your running backs…
LOL…I hope CIF IS READING this…

          • GP AKA Green Machine

Hey Hyna…I don’t want to share you with Amat Fans anymore….you gave us sloppy 2nds…don’t ever do that again…

            Work it Hyna!

          • Here’s JOHNNY, or Little Johnn

This is coming from Chino hills??? Wow they have many rings…. Uh NOT!

          • OuttaYourMindTrib

A CIF ring in Football will NEVER be worn by ANY player from Chino Hills or Ayala until those schools get out if the Inland Division. That is a FACT.

          • Saints Parent

And CIF Never batted an eye !!!! Good one Greenie !

    • Steve Ramirez

I know they only won two games in 2000, one was a league game against Alemany, which was really bad then.

      • FredJ

That was the year in question, if you’re saying they won a league game then they haven’t been shutout in league at least since 1980 … Wow, no player wants that on the resume.

        • Steve Ramirez

I remember writing how it was their worst season – from a overall win perspective — since the early 1960s…off course in the 70s, they could have won say, 3 nonleague games, but been shutout in league. I know they used to have that season-by-season log in their program.

        • GP AKA Green Machine

I am sure Amat Alumni always discuss the best and worst teams, just like at every school. If you go 0-4, you can’t get in any of those Amat conversations 15 years from now. I would hate to be in the situation….You just have to hold your cerveza, and listen…don’t let hit happen c/o ’14

          • AMAT 73

            GP,
I don’t think this is a case of being a bad team or one of the worst teams . Bad league record but not in the conversation of one of the worst teams we have put on the field .

          • GP AKA Green Machine

I get that…But in the books it’s going to look like that. 0-4 in league.

    • AMAT 73

      Fred J ,
I cannot recall any season where we 0′fer in league . Not saying that it has not happened but I doubt it . JA is the one to get the correct answer for that question . If you can trace it back to 1980 then I think it’s safe to say AMAT has never had a no league win season . It is what it is and as LANCER FAITHFUL we have to take the good and the bad . Still proud of our LANCERS and the effort they put on the field .

    • knowsall

99-00 went 5-5 won first 5 then lost 5 straight 0fer in league. 00-01 went 2-8 beat Damien and alemany.

    Yo Opino
    Loyola 42 – BishopNoMAS Lanceritos 10…!
Loyola is not about to lose this game, and the Lanceritos have nothing left to play for. Not even Yellow & Blue La Puente pride…! The Far Far Superior team of Loyola will dispose of the Lanceritos on Knifer field and the count down to Thanksgiving tacos will begin…!

Not In 2013 either…! How pathetic have the Lanceritos become…

  • Valley Athletics

Congrats to Amat sophmore class on being 20-0 .

    • Here’s JOHNNY, or Little Johnn

Look at its gonna be a good ride over next two.

  • charger parent

you dont win rings for freshmen and jv, cos sophs are going to the playoffs

    • Valley Athletics

20-0 is a great accomplishment . By the way they beAt CO 28-0 last year and 49-0 this year. And 8 of those sophs are in varsity and had great game against CO in that beat down .

    • Here’s JOHNNY, or Little Johnn

Hey McCharger…. Your brain is probably to small to understand this so I will go slow… Bishops sophomore’s would come start at your school over the same kids they waxed last year. Your right you don’t win anything at the lower levels, but if you really know football, in this case you don’t….. Player for player our kids are better. You have a few such as Echols, Washington and brown. But as we proved again this year we are better. Some kids don’t get to the varsity level as sophs because of the depth. If I am not mistaken…. Our JV team beat your JV (junior loaded) team. So if that makes you happy to have your soph on varsity so be it. He probably did not play much or at all but as a scrub on the practice squad. So look forward to your explanation or reasoning, but there is none.

  • AMAT 73

Good luck to all the teams of the SGV for well played and injury free games .To the MEN IN BLUE , get the win don’t let up . AMAT WILL SHINE !!!!

  • Royal Blue Thunder

Bishop Amat beat Loyola who beat Alemany who beat everyone else who beat Bishop Amat! LOL!

The Serra is a brutal beast. Losing to Alemany, Notre Dame, and Crespi by a COMBINED 20 points is nothing to be ashamed about especially considering the youth of Amat’s football team. They will come back next season as a force to be reckoned with. I really don’t see any SGV team looking to schedule the Lancers for at least the next two seasons.

Congratulations to the Lancers for giving fans another great season of Amat football. Hold your heads up high and know that we take pride in you.
Bishop Amat competes in arguably one of the toughest leagues and divisions in the entire country. We’ve been playing Division 1 ball for decades and we would not have it any other way.

    • Not So Fast My Friend

Not baiting you, but this type of over-the-top chest thumping when Amat wins, and the Disappearing Acts you and several other Amat folks do, is what causes people to lose respect for you, your post, and the hyperbole used to describe Amat’s program. Where were you last week when Amat got clubbed by Crespi? The only one that showed up (besides Fred) was Amat 73. That left him to address the loss by himself. I believe more posters have respect for him because he’s here win or lose than your GI Joe invisible man action figure post. Your post strikes me as the kind who shows up to eat dinner with everyone at the restaurant, drinks, orders a bunch of food, then vanishes before the bill is paid.

If you’re gonna come on here when they win, then show yourself when they lose.

      • Valley Athletics

I was also on here after every loss ..

        • Not So Fast My Friend

I didn’t know you were affiliated with Amat. Probably because your posts are more rationale than overkill. :-)

I still stand by the genesis of my post.

          • Valley Athletics

Yeah . Your correct . Some posters over do it .

      • AMAT 73

        NSFMF,
Thanks for the backing . There were a couple of others on here taking the heat , But the real vocal recent bayer’s such as Royal were nowhere to be found after the loses like you say . Either way our season is behind us and although the team fellshort of making the playoffs , none the less it was a good season . We have much to look forward to next season and beyond as we are in a solid position as far as up and coming talent . Great job by all the teams of the SGV and thank you for another fine season of football SGV style . To the teams fortunate enought to make the playoffs , much kuck going forward and hope deep runs for all .

I don’t know guys…the way I’m looking at it, West Covina will get the At-Large. And if they do, Norwalk will have their hands full, and just might be the first #1 seed to lose in a long time.

WC is going to get 2 points for their SOS, which according to Calpreps is 55-45 and beats CV’s at 52-48, Bonita’s also at 52-48, Artesia’s at 43-56, Cal’s at 54-46, and Lynwood’s at 50-49.

Also, according to Calpreps, WC will get 1 point for Overall Strength of League because the Hacienda is ranked #19, the Del Rio is #25, the SGV is #28, the Suburban is #30, and the Pacific is # 34.

CV will get 1 point from overall record at 8-2.

The only head-to-head is WC vs. Bonita which WC won. Just not sure if they lump the 4 total points from that into WC’s overall “pot” or if they just get 4 points in a head-to-head comparison against BoHi.

But from the looks of it, it appears to me WC will get the nod. We’ll see tonight at 6!

    • Valley Athletics

It could happen . Never know . Might come down to cal preps numbers .

  • charger parent

how can anybody in their right mind think amat gets in, whats the argument, wins over SM (first game of year), lower div. , last place loyola by five.

    • Here’s JOHNNY, or Little Johnn

Hey McCharger….. SM is also in the pack five.

  • knowsall

Amat went 0fer in league in the 99-00 season won first 5 then lost 5 straight

Diamond Bar’s real rivalry game with Walnut was not much of a game. It was the first game all year, and yes that includes Dranch, where both sides of the stadium were packed and the kids were loud and fun. On the DBar side you didn’t sit if you didn’t get there at least twenty minutes before the game. Students were sitting in the aisles and it was four deep at the fence. Good natured taunting…no fights, just what high school football is supposed to be. DBar sat out Cordell for his part of the fight with Dranch, even though this was a crucial game. The game itself…eh…DBar probably averaged around 2 minutes per scoring drive and Walnut 6 minutes on theirs. That’s what kept DBar to 60 points. Tyler Brown (remember he played at Walnut his freshman year) had and incredible game and there were at least five highlight real type runs by DBar in the first half. There were no issues after the game and DBar kept the Branding Iron for the third straight year. I hope Dranch is not on our schedule next year. And I think we’d beat them next year…they lose a lot of seniors and we return our threats except for Tyler but we add Antonio Hull. It’s just not fun to play them. DBar vs Walnut is like USC vs UCLA. We talk crap to each other but their is no hatred…now I only have one more wish…that DBar can win it’s playoff game next week so Hull can play this year…

    • PatrickHT

why wouldnt he play in the playofff game??

    • Nomoredrama

Its never fun when you are over matched and cant win against a team, lol

      • Moredrama

But is sure is fun to sit back and have a beer with old high school friends and talk about all the CIF Championships that you won. But I guess you wouldn’t know about that. (lol) NOT THIS YEAR, NOT EVER FOR DR.

        • Nomoredrama

Nothing like old men living in the past, cause thats is where their lives are stuck! And, no I wouldn’t know about that because I don’t have a kid at either school. But, i do know that since the two schools started playing each other….well, you said it yourself….its never fun for DB. Oh, but, it was sooo much more fun when you rout Walnut. You just sound like the kid who doesn’t want to play anymore cause you keep losing, lol maybe you and your old buddies need to stop drinking and sober up.

          • Moredrama

I think you’re confusing me with what Brad Mill posted. Two different people and two different posts.

          • Nomoredrama

Ok, then my remarks about old men living in the past and sobering up, is my reply to you. And everything else is my reply to Mr. whining “I don’t want to play any more, because losing all the time to DR isn’t fun” brad mill.

          • moredrama

Better to have been a “has been” then to be a “never was”. Fortunately we have 4 teams of “has been’s” to your 0 teams of “never was and never will”.

          • Nomoredrama

You obviously need to stop drinking beers with your old high school cronies, i posted that i don’t have a kid at either school, lol! Besides, my first reply was to brad mill, and was not a “personal attack” i just stated a fact “it is never fun to play a team you always lose to” but, you stuck your ole drunk a$$ in the convo and took it to a personal level, which is where I will leave you…

  • SpartanPride

My congratulations to Damien and to a great year. They overcame many obstacles this year after that disaster of a coaching job of Gano, who left the program completely unprepared. They purposely flew under the radar and were going to do their talking on the field. These guys worked harder than any other team in Damien history under the guidance of Coach Paredes and his staff. Nobody gave them a chance after losing so much talent coming off one of the worse seasons in school history. Even after all that, they pulled off the biggest upset in the valley this year by socking CH in the mouth and had won one of the best games in history of SGV Football against rival Claremont. Both of these games received absolutely no press from anyone, except those that were fortunate enough to see them in person. It was very unfortunate to miss the playoffs because of a coin flip, but hopefully that will inspire the next class of Spartans to work that much harder. Next year will be an even bigger challenge, but the Spartan Men will undoubted rise up and take it head on. Congratulations to this year’s seniors. You did your school proud!

With our shield or on it, is the code of a Spartan men, so you tremble at our warning, WE’LL RETURN AGAIN!

    Faith, Family, Football!
