POST SCORES:Following boys and girls soccer is as easy as your coaches make it. If they update scores and stats we can all follow along and have fun this season with MaxPreps standings, schedules, rosters and stats. So, encourage your coaches, this is your time and we want to follow you. You can also tweet me final scores to @sgvnsports or call in results to 626-544-0992 or email results to scores@sgvn.com. Next week I’ll post the first boys and girls soccer rankings along with the MaxPreps standings grid.

RANK ‘EM: Now an even better question … New year, new faces, so tell me some of the stud boys and girls I should keep an eye on and which teams are going to be good. For a while now it’s been about Bishop Amat, Diamond Bar, St. Lucy’s, Sierra Vista, Walnut girls and Damien, Los Altos, Mountain View, Pomona, Ganesha and South Hills boys. Tell me there’s something new to write and talk about.

So as Fred has mentioned on his earlier post about the Pre season polls not meaning much since they go off of last years performances/standings. With that being said here goes my GIRLS pre season top 10…
    1. Bishop Amat- They have a good foundation of players coming back
    2. Chino Hills- Always strong and competitive
    3. Claremont- Watch out for this team; a lot of returners.
    4. Diamond Bar- Excited to see what this team can do this year
    5. St. Lucy’s- Hoping they were able to put a good team together during the summer
    6. San Dimas- Lost to CH 6-2 but then again only a scrimmage and a good one at that.
    7. Los Altos- year after year they have a good squad but league is where it counts.
    8. Sierra Vista- Returning 8 starters and are in the right division to make it far.
    9. Walnut- Good team but not good to lose your coach right before season starts.
    10. Arroyo- Division 7 finalist but lost a lot of their starters.

So as Fred has mentioned on his earlier post about the Pre season polls not meaning much and the SGV not having any teams in the top 10 it is going to be interesting to see which boys team comes out on top this season. With that being said here goes my BOYS pre season top 10…

    1. Damien- Got some good talent coming in.

    2. Sierra Vista- Good players all the time.

    3. Baldwin Park- Destroyed Salesian 4-0 and the squad is hungry

    4. Walnut- Defending champs so they will have their hands full

    5. South Hills- If healthy they can make a run.

    6. Los Altos- Good team but always very young

    7. Ganesha- Always in the MVL title chase

    8. Mountain View- Want to return to the glory years

    9. Claremont- Coming off a bad season but had a young team last year

    10. Pomona- Well coached and always a threat.

TOP TEN GIRLS SOCCER – IMHO
    1. CHINO HILLS – Top to bottom talent
    -
    2. CLAREMONT – Great Coach , lots of returners
    -
    3. WALNUT – Same back line as last year, 7-8 returning starters
    -
    4. LOS ALTOS – Hard working team with a blue collar attitude
    -
    5. DIAMOND BAR – Solid group but the loss of Lockett & Favela just to much
    -
    6. BISHOP AMAT – The loss of 9 starters is a huge hurdle, even for Ruben
    -
    7. St. LUCYS – ??? – just because
    -
    8. SAN DIMAS – Returning solid players but looked outclassed against CH
    -
    9. SIERRA VISTA – Should be very good again , lots of returners
    -
    10. SOUTH HILLS – Will be very solid – nice talent

Well looks like the Brahmas have quite a bit to say about these ranking! As of 12/07/2013 they have knocked off Claremont 2-0, San Dimas 4-0, and Glendora 2-1

      • PITCHMAN

I stand corrected. Looking like the Brahmas should jump to maybe #1. I know a few of the girls so I am happily surprised. Awesome start BRAHMAS.

  • Tonne

Alison Kung at Wilson High School is a great talent. Team is very young and inexperience but she is a talent. She has verbal to Cal Poly…

  • Marilyn Dubb

Monrovia High School’s Kelly Youssef #15. Uncommitted midfielder, 4 year Varsity Starter and Team Captain, 2 years. Huge talent!

    • Eduardo Ruiz

Monrovia will be good because Ashley Sanchez is on the team, By far best player there

  • huskyfan

Chino Hills players to watch are Ashley Gonzales, scored 31 goals last season as a junior, senior Amanda Ball and freshman Denae Antoine is a future star, watch out for her too.

    1. Bishop Amat- They have a good foundation of players coming back (Record: 2-0-0; beat Arroyo 5-0 and Grabielino 2-0- Both wins come to Div 7 teams; Not impressed!)

    2. Chino Hills- Always strong and competitive ( Record: 4-0-0; beat SD 6-2, Alta Loma 2-0; Bonita 7-2, and Trabuco Hills 3-1- Great wins!!!!!)

    3. Claremont- Watch out for this team; a lot of returners ( Record 0-1-1; Lost to DB 2-0 and tied Royal 1-1- Not a great start)

    4. Diamond Bar- Excited to see what this team can do this year ( Record 4-0-1; beat Glendora 2-1, Claremont 2-0, Rialto 2-0, San Dimas 4-0, and tied Royal 0-0- Might be the second best team in the SGV)

    5. St. Lucy’s- Hoping they were able to put a good team together during the summer (Record 3-1; beat Rialto 4-0, Chaffey 5-0, Montclair 2-0, and lost to Serrano 2-0- Solid start!)

    6. San Dimas- Lost to CH 6-2 but then again only a scrimmage and a good one at that ( Record 3-4; beat Temple City 6-0, WC 1-0, and Ayala 3-0; lost to CH 6-2, DB 4-0, CO 4-2, and Glendora 2-1; one of the toughest pre season schedules in the SGV)

    7. Los Altos- year after year they have a good squad but league is where it counts ( Record 2-1-1; beat Carter 4-0, Hesperia 3-0; lost to Montclair 2-1; tied Redlands East Valley 1-1- Team trying to find its identity but look out if they do)

    8. Sierra Vista- Returning 8 starters and are in the right division to make it far ( Record 2-0; beat Arroyo 7-2, BP 4-1- Team will see what its made of when they play CO and Murrieta Valley)

    9. Walnut- Good team but not good to lose your coach right before season starts (Record 1-0-1; beat Don Lugo 1-0; tied Ayala 0-0- Lets hope they come together quickly if not its going to be a long season!!)

    10. Arroyo- Division 7 finalist but lost a lot of their starters ( Record 0-2-3; tied Arcadia 0-0, BP 1-1, Ontario 1-1; lost to SV 7-2, and BA 5-0- Lost too many good seniors last year)

    3. Bishop Amat- Always a better team the second half of the season

    4. St. Lucy’s- Good start for this young team

    5. Claremont- Have been to two games they played and they just need to find the back of the net

    6. Los Altos- Will surprise a lot of teams in the Hacienda

    8. San Dimas- Have played one of the toughest schedules in the SGV but will start VVL and that is no help to them

    9. Walnut- Will be dangerous in league when and if they come together

    10. South Hills- Can be a sleeper team in league and if they make it to CIF
