South Pasadena stuns host Glendora, 54-45 while Damien crushes Serrano 89-33 to advance to Friday’s Glendora tournament semifinals

“I think the only people that thought we were going to win were myself and the guys in our locker room. Coming off the bus I said, “We’re not here to get pushed around. We’re not here to lose this game. We’re here to fight, and I think we did it all four quarters.” South Pasadena coach Dave Lutzeier said following the win over Glendora.

QUARTERFINAL ROUNDUP: Damien High junior Malik Fitts provided the understatement of the young season following the Spartans’ 89-33 quarterfinal victory over Serrano in the Glendora boys basketball tournament on Wednesday. “It’s going to be a fun two years,” the 6-foot-5 guard said. That’s because the starting five are all juniors. Fresh off a CIF-SS division title, returning player of the year Jeremy Hemsley finished with 13 points, five assists and four rebounds in a short night of work.
