Diamond Bar football standout Cordell Broadus, the son of rapper Snoop Dogg, has left the school

“He told me that he wants to play for a bigger school to get him ready for college,” Diamond Bar coach Ryan Maine said. “We’re going to miss his presence at wide receiver. We wish him the best of luck.”

Wide receiver Cordell Broadus, son of famous rapper Snoop Dogg, checked out of Diamond Bar High School on Friday and plans to transfer to a bigger school to get prepared for his college football career.
Broadus denied rumors earlier this month that he was leaving Diamond Bar for Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, NV. His next destination is unknown at this time.
“He told me that he wants to play for a bigger school to get him ready for college,” Diamond Bar coach Ryan Maine said. “We’re going to miss his presence at wide receiver. We wish him the best of luck.”

TMZ PICKS IT UP: TMZ picked up Aram’s story and gave In the Huddle credit for posting it first. TMZ also reporting that they hear Cordell could be heading to St. John Bosco, who is playing for the state title on Saturday.

What ever happened to loyalty and building something you could be proud of? Celebrating the never ending transfers of Noodles, Broadus, Scoby, etc…it’s just the wrong message to kids IMO. Fred I know you feel different. But I think we as a society owe it to these kids to teach them about loyalty before they make everything about business. Good luck kid…you were big fish in a medium sized fishbowl. Be careful what you wish for!

Hey I thought the whole reason that Noodles transfered was to play with Broadus. Man how does that make him feel. His buddy thought about himself first and left him high and dry. Who will be next to hop off the Brahama train.

Well if he is stating that he wants to play at a bigger school that will make it Athetically motivated . What cif denies him his senior season .

  • Coach Rivers

This genius might wanna ask “Noodles” Hull how it felt to miss an entire year of Varsity football.
CIF doesn’t play when it comes to athletically motivated transfers, and telling the coach of your soon to be former school that you’re leaving “for a bigger school” is a great way to spend your senior year ineligible.
Coach Maine seems cool about it now, but so did West Covina’s coach when Noodles transferred…and so did Bonita’s coach when Jake Payton transferred.
CIF also shot down several transfers to Upland this year and there will be more to come.
So yeah….good luck with that transfer, smart guy.

News flash money trumps CIF rules. If the family buys a house and moves in a new area he will play and not miss a beat. The key point is did the other school reach out and contact him. If that can’t be proven. like an email or something, then it can’t see him sitting out. The bigger question is who’s next.

It all comes down to Will Diamond Bar challenge, if they don’t, he probably plays

        • SGV 4 30 Years

If the whole family moves into a new house, DB won’t have any say. It’s the golden rule.

          • Valley Athletics

If the whole family moves then Kanya bell will also have to go . Can’t see them moving from diamond bar to bellflower .

          • SGV 4 30 Years

They wouldn’t have to move to Bellflower. They can move anywhere. Private schools don’t have any boundaries. The bigger problem is that according to CIF, they would have to sell their house in Diamond Bar because you can’t have 2 residences. I’m sure Aram will keep us all posted. Let’s all wish the kid well. Bosco or anyone at that level will give him all the challenge he can handle.

          • Valley Athletics

I doubt they sell there house that they had custom built from scratch just for one year of football .

          • FredJ

This could get challenged. Ryan Maine boxed himself in a corner by stating publicly that Cordell is leaving to play at a bigger school, which would be an athletically motivated transfer. When the time comes to sign on or sign off, what will Maine do? CIF already has him publicly stating what he believes Cordell told him. If Maine decides not to challenge, he’s going to have to explain why he’s not challenging it based on the statement he made to Aram. We should find out after the holiday’s where he enrolled. Unless he’s going to be home schooled, he needs to go somewhere.

$$$$ and powerful attorneys trumps cif. Plus snoop has the financial means to buy a house in another area fast. He wont miss a game. Don’t believe me just watch.

  • Coach W

What a stupid thing to do going into our senior year. Trust me cif is looking at and into all transfers that have any athletic motivation involved.

  • Jerry cif friend

Good luck to all the soon to be seniors trying the transfer route.ya all in for a big awakening. Minimum sit out is 30 days which would be sitting out 4 games.
