Northview’s Bryan Salinas ranked No. 1 in the state: Northview High School has been the dominant wrestling program in the area for nearly two decades and that trend is continuing this season.
The Vikings, armed with a trio of competitors who are contenders to place at the state championships in March, look as strong as ever. Northview is ranked No. 2 in CIF-Southern Section Division 2 this week after winning three tournaments and a top 10 finish at a fourth during the first two months of the season.
“We’re doing well,” Northview coach David Ochoa said. “We won Carter, we won our tournament, we won at El Cajon. We were eighth at the Don Buchanan Tournament, which I thought was a pretty good showing for our team. We have a lot of kids who are having a good year.”
