It has been a few years since the Los Altos girls soccer team three-peated as league champions, so coach Chris Reeder didn’t mind the gatorade shower following the Conquerors’ 1-0 victory over visiting Diamond Bar to inch closer to their first league title since 2010.

Los Altos (14-2-3, 7-0-1), ranked fifth in CIF-Southern Section Division 3, is a full two-games ahead of ninth-ranked Diamond Bar (13-4-3, 6-2-1) with five to play, and owns the tiebreaker over the Brahmas, the two-time defending league champs.

Los Altos tied Diamond Bar 1-1 earlier in the season.

“We’re two games ahead at this point and there are some good teams left to play, but it’s nice to put this space between us and everyone else,” Reeder said. “I told the team, we don’t have any Laurin Stupin’s or Tara Cofer’s (from past championships teams) on this (squad), but this might be the best team I’ve ever coached. Top to bottom we don’t have a lot of weaknesses. And we don’t have that crazy star player, but we’re a complete team and the girls really believe and work hard.”
