STORY: It did not matter if Sierra Vista High School boys soccer coach Jose Rodriguez received a water cooler bath on Thursday. He was already drenched from the rain.
But the Dons players gave their coach the shower anyway after they defeated host Duarte, 2-1, to clinch the Montview League title with two games to play.
David Rosales scored in the game’s 37th minute to break a 1-1 tie, minutes after a steady downpour ended.
“We had to win,” Rodriguez said. “I was not too worried when it was 1-1. I was thinking we’ll go to overtime and keep working. You have to work out of it.”
