CIF-SOUTHERN SECTION BOYS/GIRLS SOCCER PLAYOFF PAIRINGS

BOYS PLAYOFF PREVIEW: The stage is set following the release of the CIF-Southern Section Boys Soccer playoff pairings on Monday with undefeated and second-seed Sierra Vista (20-0-2) in Division 4 hoping to run the table and take on powerhouse and top seed Cathedral (21-1-1), ranked fifth in the state and 23rd nationally by MaxPreps in a much anticipated final.
But there’s a lot of work ahead to reach the finals for the Dons, starting with Thursday’s first-round game against the winner of Tuesday’s wild-card between Saugus and Culver City.

GIRLS PLAYOFF PREVIEW: Los Altos High School girls soccer coach Chris Reeder has had several talented teams over the years that have gone deep in the CIF-Southern Section playoffs, but earning the second-seed following the release of Monday’s girls soccer pairings goes hand-in-hand with Reeder arguing that this is probably his best team in nearly a decade at the school.
Los Altos (18-2-3), which went undefeated in the Hacienda League, will face the winner of Wednesday’s wild-card between Atascadero (13-11-1) and Bishop Montgomery (12-9-12) in Friday’s first-round.
“We have the complete team to go (far),” Reeder said. “We don’t have any glaring weakness, but the big challenge is going to be mental. We have some young players on this team and they have to be ready to go.”
