TUESDAY’S DIVISION 3 SEMIFINALS
Los Altos vs. Monday’s St. Joseph-Yorba Linda winner.

No. 2 Sierra Vista goes down: There will be no all-area match-up in the CIF-Southern Section Division 6 girls soccer semifinals next week, a pair of teams from the Valley View League made sure of that.
Not long after Oxnard Pacifica eliminated third-seed San Dimas 1-0, visiting Camarillo jumped on top of host Sierra Vista and held on for a 3-1 victory over the second-seed Dons in the quarterfinals on Friday.
The Dons, who won the school’s first team championship of any kind by winning the Division 7 title in 2010, were eliminated from the quarterfinals for the third consecutive year.
It ends another remarkable year, finishing 21-4, marking the fourth straight season the Dons finished with just four losses or less.
“It’s always tough when you lose,” Dons coach Steve Jimenez said. “But we’re proud of our program. I’ve got great coaches, great parents, kids and school support that allow us to work year-around. We’re not going anywhere, we’ll be back.”

LOS ALTOS 3, GRANITE HILLS 1

LA PUENTE – For the Los Altos High School girls soccer team, the CIF-Southern Section playoffs have been all about payback and squaring the Conquerors with opponents who have dealt them postseason death in recent years.
Los Altos, after getting some playoff revenge on Garden Grove Pacifica earlier this week, crossed another one of that list Friday.
Sophomore midfielder Natalia Elizarraras scored a goal and had an assist to lead and the Conquerors got back at Granite Hills with a 3-1 victory in a Division 3 quarterfinal game at La Puente High School.
Granite Hills beat Los Altos in the semifinals in 2010.
Erin Myers and Melanie Moreno also scored goals for the Conquerors, who improved to 21-2-3 and advanced to Tuesday’s semifinals against either Yorba Linda or Lakewood St. Joseph, whose quarterfinal was postponed until Monday due to Friday’s rain.
Granite Hills, getting a goal from Ashlenn Bradbury, finished 13-8-4.

Los Altos coach Chris Reeder: “This whole playoff has been a repeat (in reverse) for us. Pacifica has knocked us out a couple of times and we get them (in the second round). Granite Hills played like Warriors a few years ago here and knocked us out. We were able to face them today in the quarters and knock them out.”

Granite Hills coach Mike Bradbury: “Credit to coach Reeder and his program and his girls. They obviously had a plan of attack, and when you execute your plan of attack, you win games.”

Los Altos’ Natalia Elizaarraras: “Our coach told us that (Granite Hills) comes out hard. To get two on them quick was pretty good and get some separation from them.”

WEDNESDAY’S QUARTERFINAL RESULTS, STORIES AND VIDEO

Diamond Bar gets its revenge: The Diamond Bar girls soccer team is living on the edge and loving the results.
Bishop Amat won two championships in the last three years in similar fashion, rallying time after time, and was at it again against host Diamond Bar in Wednesday’s CIF-Southern Section Division 3 second-round game.
But the Brahmas didn’t buckle, showing incredible reserve after the Lancers’ late rally, surviving a wild final 10 minutes to pull out a 3-2 victory over the fourth seed after nearly blowing a 2-0 lead it held most of the match.

South Hills comes up short, 2-1: The scouting report on Sunny Hills was accurate.
The CIF-Southern Section Division 2 top-ranked girls soccer team has one of the stingiest defenses in Southern California and scores most of its goals on set pieces from throw-ins and corner kicks.
In the end, it was two first-half goals that came off a throw-in and a corner kick that was the difference as the Lancers posted a 2-1 victory over South Hills at Covina District Field on Tuesday to eliminate the Huskies from the playoffs.

Are you considering LA winning the upset? Or are you saying that an upset could happen (Pacifica winning)?
Pacifica has knocked LA out of the playoffs the past two seasons. Looks like they got their number! This DEFINITELY could be an upset!

      • Soccer Fan

That Pacifica could upset LA for the reason that Pacifica does have LAs #

Sunny Hills wins by at least 2 goals. LA goes into OT. SD beats GG by at least 2. SV beats Jurupa by at least 2 also. St Monics too much for Arroyo wins by 3-1

  • Nancy Loera

Yup. Once again Fred is wrong. SV wins 2-0

  • MamaDiaz

Haha…one picture and one interview of DB! If Amat had won Fred woulda interviewed the entire team, coaching staff and half the stands! Gotta love that Amat bias! They’ll still be his #1 ranked valley team at the end of the year!

    • Tom Kiss

MamaDiaz, watch the video that I produced…….., I interviewed the Dbar Coach, Their Forward Ashley Bell who scored 2 Goals, Helena Kisor who scored the winning goal AND Sabrina Corpus who led Dbar in the midfield……oh i did put 45 sec of Amats Coach, but you still get 4 views of the winning goal…..Thanks for Watching and the support.

      • MamaDiaz

Thanks Tom! You do a great job!!

    • FredJ

Typical whining, our photo gallery is full of Diamond Bar shots, Tom produced a video with multiple interviews, highlights, and my game story. Where else you getting that coverage Mama? Diamond Bar patch, lol … And hey, I hustled over and covered South Hills to at 5 … And whining won’t get championships, focus on your team, still a long way to go. But just so you and anyone else knows, we cover winners and when you keep winning you get coverage, hence three Diamond Bar girls stories in the past week, another Diamond Bar boys soccer story over Monrovia and another Diamond Bar boys story Thursday vs. Baldwin Park. So, that’s my bias, when you get to championships you get covered.

      • PatrickHT

Fred , you do a great job! haha

  • FredJ

So who should I cover on Friday, Los Altos or Sierra Vista at home? I figure Los Altos will never play on its home field because of the rain, but both have home games.

    • Soccer Fan

Thats a tough one!! Both of those games sre going to be great ones!!

    • Soccer Fan

Lets hope one of those 2 teams gets a 5pm game then you can cover both. Also, you have to assume LA will play at LP

    • JamesJ

LA for sure! Sierra Vista always makes it this far in the playoffs…LA does not. Throw ‘em a bone!
Is there a chance you could cover both? I know last time LA played at 5pm. Maybe SV at 3pm and LA at 5pm?

      • FredJ

Both games are at 5, Steve Ramirez is with Los Altos, I’m covering Sierra Vista

    • JamesJ

Looks like LA will play in the evening, so you could do both games.
And to answer your twitter question about why teams are moving the games to 5pm…Not sure about other schools, but I know in the case of Los Altos, they are at the mercy of La Puente and when they will accommodate the game. LP has afterschool programs that have priority on that field. This whole ordeal only highlights how sad it is that LA can’t play at Quarterfinal game at their own house. What a pathetic situation for a great school.

      • sgv1

I agree with you. Sad that l.p. has to accommodate other schools for them to use their field and that the l.p. custodians got to set things up and stuff.

        • LA Futbol

Sgv1…I wouldn’t shed too many tears if I were you. The custodian assigned to that game is getting paid a pretty penny to watch soccer! It’s an OT gig and it’ll be paid for by Los Altos!

The only teams still standing for the SGV are CH on the girls side and SV on the boys side. One of two would be great if they can take home the title

    • LA Futbol

      A) Chino Hills is NOT in the SGV
      B) Los Altos is in the Semis tomorrow homie!
