San Dimas softball tournament: Glendora beats Montclair for tournament title

SEMIFINALS: Glendora continued to hit the ball hard to start the season, pounding out 11 hits in a 6-2 win over West Covina in a semifinal game of the San Dimas Softball Tournament on Friday night.

The Tartans (3-0) will face Montclair at 4 p.m. today in the championship game at San Dimas High School.

The Tartans broke open a 2-1 game with three runs in the fifth inning. Alisha Brown hit a one-out home run, then Bailee Kirst drove in two more with a two-out single. Kirst had three RBIs to lead the Tartans.

FINAL: Good hitting, good pitching, aggressive base running and solid defense propelled the Glendora Tartans to the championship of the 21st annual San Dimas Softball Tournament on Saturday.
The Tartans (4-0) came from behind to score three runs in the top of the fourth inning and went on to knock off Montclair 6-3 in the title match.
“This is the first time we’ve been in a championship game in a while,” Tartans coach Mike Quiroz said. “We’re really excited. This was the first time we’ve trailed in a game this year but when someone gets it started, it’s contagious and they all get going.”
