Diamond Bar names Marcus Hughes, from New York, as its next football coach

FROM IN THE HUDDLE: Diamond Bar has named Marcus Hughes, who most recently was head coach at Cornwall Central High in New York, as its new varsity football head coach. Hughes replaces Ryan Maine, who resigned after three seasons. Hughes was 67-13 in six seasons at Cornwall and his teams went to the state playoffs the past three seasons.

Here is Hughes in a video talking after a championship victory

Diamond Bar fans should be encouraged by this November story, which discusses how Hughes turned Cornwall Central into a power.

Don’t think it’s a good choice, should of found a Coach who was local. No kids are going to want to play for an unknown Coach from out of state. They should tried harder to get that Mike Johnson. He would of brought in some talent.

If you actually knew any of the kids on team then you would be wise to rescind your comment!

Has a good track record . But is he going to be able to get the best staff around him not knowing anything about the coaches in the area . Is he just going to keep same staff .

You think they told him that their best player graduated(tyler brown) and their best junior(broadus) transfered out before he signed his life away. Lol This isn’t the same team that went to 2nd round of playoffs last year.

They still have quite a few playmakers such as Noodles, Peterson, and Bell

Brown was certainly a baller, but Broadus was far from the teams best Jr. Bell and Noodles are both much better play makers and neither played much at all last year. In addition to that we have back probably the SGV’s best QB for next season as well as the transfer return of 6’6″ Brandon Rice.

When did Brandon Rice transfer back??? I know his sister is still at DB….

What position does rice play ? Did he even play at servite .
