The football proposals were released today and the two to pay attention to locally are the Central and Mid-Valley Division. For football fans, putting the Hacienda, Palomares and Rio Hondo in the Central division is a dream for area public heavyweights. We’ve wanted West Covina, Charter Oak, South Hills, Monrovia, Diamond Bar, Los Altos and Glendora all in the same football division for years, and now we’ve got it. There’s no more debate, the best area public school WILL be decided on the field. The Mid-Valley Division is led by second-tier area public schools led by defending champion San Dimas from the Valle Vista, and including the Montview and new Hacienda. Of course, the divisions aren’t set in stone yet. League’s will have a chance to appeal. There might be some in Southeast that do not like the inclusion of the Mission League, which includes St. Francis and other Catholic school teams on the rise that fought recently to keep some of its teams from the Pac-5. Now they’re competing with leagues from the Pacific, and Del Rio. Wow, expect St. Francis to have the same type of success that Monrovia had in the Mid-Valley. If they don’t win at least two championships over the next three years it will be a huge disappointment.
