Thursday Football: Northview rolls to easy win over Montebello, 38-6: Azusa no match for Whittier

Northview 38, Montebello 6
Northview High School football coach Marcel Perez spoke with a lot of optimisim about his team during the summer.
The Vikings continued to live up to his billing Thursday night.
Elijah Grijalva rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown and made two big plays on defense as Northview won its second game to start the season with a victory over Montebello in a nonleague game at San Dimas High School.
Quarterback Steven Comstock rushed for 94 yards and two touchdowns for the Vikings, who beat Rosemead last week.

Isaac Mendibles rushed for 119 yards and scored the only touchdown for Montebello, which slipped to 0-2. The Oilers were also routed by Diamond Bar last week.
Northview all but it away by halftime. The Vikings, getting 59 yards rushing and a touchdown from Andres Hooper, led 24-6 after two quarters.
La Serna 42, Los Osos 26
Enrique Pacheco is making Lancer fans forget about Frankie Palmer, throwing for nearly 300 yards and four scores as La Serna bounced back from last week’s opening loss.
La Serna also received 139 yards receiving and two TDS from Curtis Ashton.
Whitter 24, Azusa 7
Alex Soto threw for 285 yards and two TDs as the Cardinals bounced back from a blow-out loss.
Glenn 7, Pioneer 3
Martin Sanchez scored from the two on fourth down in the closing minutes as Glenn beat the Titans.
