Rosemead beats Arroyo on gutsy 2-point conversion: Having not beaten rival Arroyo High School since 2008, there was little chance that Rosemead football coach Marc Paramo wasn’t going to go for two and the win.
That’s exactly what Paramo did after his team scored on a touchdown pass with 11 seconds left to pull within one of the Knights. And when Robbie Franco bulled into the end zone moments later, a great weight was lifted off the Rosemead program with a 28-27 win on Friday night.
“When we were on the 15-yard line, I told my assistant coach upstairs ‘Get your play ready, because we’re going for two. We’re not going to kick it,’” Paramo said. “I’m proud of our guys. It is a huge hump. If we would have lost, we would have stewed over it for all of our bye week.”

ayalarunAyala shocks Damien: The contest between Ayala and Damien looked like a toss-up on paper, each team entering having won three of its four games with some quality wins.
It wasn’t that close when it came to total yardage or time of possession, but it was that close on the scoreboard as Ayala prevailed 17-13 on Friday in the final non-league tuneup for each team.
Ayala (4-1) had that 17-13 lead going into the final few minutes but couldn’t get the first down to run out the clock and handed the ball back to the visiting Spartans with 2:53 left at their own 30.

Bishop Amat upset: Bishop Amat pulled out its gold uniforms for the second time this season and for a game it couldn’t afford to lose, and the good luck charm was just what it needed.
Barely.
The Lancers avoided falling into a huge hole in the ridiculously tough Mission League with a 14-7 defensive gem over Serra, which many considered one of the league favorites and was averaging 45 points a game against a tough schedule.

Glendora pounds Kaiser: If this is a playoff preview, Kaiser has some work left to do.
After Kaiser kept it close with two first-half Glendora turnovers, the Tartans pulled away with two second-half touchdowns in a 28-7 victory over Kaiser in a nonleague game on Friday night at Kaiser High School.
Glendora (4-1) had entered the game ranked No. 2 in the CIF-SS Central Division, while Kaiser (3-2) was No. 4
“The bottom line, they got coached up to come in and do some things that would hurt us,” Kaiser coach Phil Zelaya said. “And they executed that very well.”

Maranatha stays undefeated: Two teams, Mountain View and Maranatha high schools, heading in opposite directions met Friday night in a nonleague game and the final outcome was predictable.
With four games remaining in the regular season for both teams, Maranatha remains on a path to an undefeated season, while Mt. View is still seeking its first win.
The visiting Minutemen (6-0), top-ranked in CIF-SS Northwest Division, defeated the Vikings 41-6.
