Last Week:
After falling behind by eight two weeks into the season, I’ve slowly trimmed Aram’s lead, cutting it to two by picking up two more this week. I got Aram taking Bishop Amat over Serra, Rosemead over Arroyo, Azusa over Temple City and Whittier over Schurr. Aram got a couple back gettin gme by taking El Rancho over Katella and Glendora over Kaiser.
This Week:: There are five big games that standout. Bonita and Glendora will meet in the Palomares opener at Charter Oak on Friday. Both are playing great coming off big victories but the Tartans have done it against tougher competition so no way I’m picking against Glendora three weeks in a row after they proved me wrong each of the past two weeks. Charter Oak at Diamond Ranch is a great way to get the Hacienda going again. Diamond Ranch never could beat Charter Oak in the old league and they won’t beat them in the revamped one either. As great as Northview has looked, San Dimas is back in its comfort zone and will likely take it to the Vikings in the Valle Vista league opener. This might as well be the game that decides the league title, because nobody else in league can touch these two. Speaking of league title deciders, Pomona at La Puente is another to open the Miramonte League. Pomona was my pre-season favorite and has played a tougher schedule, but I’m going with La Puente. They’ve been scoring a ton and I believe coach Scott Morrison will have them ready. The final game is Bishop Amat at undefeated Alemany. I believe Bishop Amat will finish 4-2 in the Mission League and make the playoffs. They won’t beat Alemany on the road, but they will finish the season with wins over Chaminade, Loyola and Notre Dame. Winning the final three straight is a tough way to do it, but they can. Now, if they beat Alemany, then you can start thinking league title. But Amat NEVER beats Alemany.

La Puente on a roll with Pomona next: All La Puente High School football coach Scott Morrison would like to see is development.
“We have played progressively better each week, but I think it can be better,” he said. “Are we currently playing as well as we can? For this past Friday, probably. For next week, probably not. But we’re progressing well.”
The Warriors (4-2) scored a 77-7 victory over Workman in their final nonleague game on Friday night. It is the most points they have scored this century. They have scored 45 or more points in each of their victories this season.
“We played well and we’re pretty efficient with the ball,” Morrison said. “We had a short field for a lot of the night.”
