COVINA ROLLS TO 49-POINT VICTORY: The Covina football team continued to pile up points as the Colts beat an injury depleted Wilson squad 55-6 on Thursday night at San Dimas High School.
Colts quarterback Joe Benavidez continued his hot hand, completing 14 of 18 passes for 283 yards and four touchdowns.
His favorite target was junior Eric Williams, who caught eight passes for 157 yards and three scores.
“It was about finding zones tonight,” Williams said. I was surprised they didn’t play man against me, so I just found the zones and sat. (Benavidez) made really great reads and fed me the ball. I did what I could to get some more yards after the catch.”
