There’s no panic in San Dimas High School football coach Bill Zernickow’s voice when he talks about the situation his team is in after losing to arch-rival Bonita and Valle Vista League upstart Northview in the past two weeks.
Instead, Zernickow is very concise about what the Saints need to do in order to get things turned around and still make a run in the postseason as they bid to win back-to-back CIF-Southern Section Mid-Valley championships.
“Basically, for us, we’re in a one-game season right now,” said Zernickow, whose team visits Nogales on Friday. “We have to beat Nogales. We have to go 1-0 every single week the rest of the way out here if we want to be in the playoffs.”
San Dimas, which had won three straight before the Bonita loss, is now 3-3 overall and 1-1 in league. Nogales is 2-4 overall and 0-1 in league.
