TRIBUNE SUPER 32 FOOTBALL RANKINGS
1. Bishop Amat (5-3) — They’re a two-point version away from being 4-0 in the Mission League. That’s extremely impressive and with a bye week, they control their own playoff destiny with two to go against Loyola and Notre Dame.
2. Glendora (6-1) — It’s not that they keep knocking out whoever stands in their way, but they’re doing it like a young Mike Tyson. Their recent wins against good teams have all been easy.
3. West Covina (5-2) — With an easy win over Chino, the Bulldogs are looking like a strong Central contender. They get Los Altos next, and I’m sure the Conqs got their attention after routing Charter Oak.
4. Northview (6-1) — Freshman quarterback Steven Comstock is the talk of the town and the only team that has a chance of standing in their Valle Vista title way is Covina in two weeks.
5. Charter Oak (3-4) — If you would have told me Charter Oak would be 3-4 after dropping back down from the Inland and Sierra I wouldn’t believe it. Still have a hard time digesting it.
6. Damien (3-4) — Can anyone win at Damien? Greg Gano couldn’t do it and now Mark Paredes is finding there are no easy answers in SpartanLand.
7. Pomona (3-4) — Take away the two forfeit losses and they’re 3-2 after the whipping over La Puente. Nobody will want to face them in the Mid-Valley playoffs.
8. Diamond Ranch (5-2) — Crushing victory over Walnut and in good position to earn playoff spot in Hacienda.
9. San Dimas (4-3) — If you believe that recent losses to Bonita and Northview were minor steps back for the defending champions, then you better hope they handle Covina this week.
Covina (5-2)
10. South Hills (3-4) — Back to back wins over Diamond Bar and Bonita and a 2-0 start in the Palomares moves the Huskies back in the top ten. What a turnaround.
THE REST: 11. Bonita (4-3), 12. Covina (4-2); 13. Los Altos (3-4); 14. Rosemead (3-4); 15. La Puente (5-3), 16. Diamond Bar (3-4), 17. Baldwin Park (4-3); 18. Azusa (4-3); 19. Walnut (2-5); 20. El Monte (4-4); 21. Arroyo (1-6), 22. Bassett (4-3); 23. Ganesha (4-4); 24. Rowland (4-3); 25. South El Monte (2-5), 26. Gladstone (2-5), 27. Sierra Vista (1-6), 28. Duarte (1-6); 29.
