Northview celebrated homecoming with a 42-21 win over Nogales on Thursday night in a Valle Vista League game at San Dimas High School.
The Vikings dominated both sides of the line of scrimmage in the first half as they ran out to a 42-0 lead at the break before clearing the bench in the second half.
“Our guys came out and played the kind of football we know how to play,” Vikings coach Marcel Perez said. “Our offensive and defensive lines have been playing real well and they need to keep it going next week.”
The Vikings (7-1, 4-0) clinched a playoff spot in CIF-Southern Section Mid-Valley Division with the win, and will face crosstown rival Covina next week for the league title as well as the Cross Town Crown trophy.

Sierra Vista surprises unbeaten Gladstone: Sierra Vista High School put a major dent in Gladstone’s hopes for a Montview League title while managing to keep its own playoff hopes alive with a 32-20 win Thursday night at Citrus Stadium.
“Our plan is to finish in third and go to playoffs, and now we are two wins away from doing it,” Dons head coach Fabian Castillo said.
The Dons (2-6, 1-2) entered the game winless in league play, while Gladstone (2-6, 2-1) was unbeaten, and the Gladiators never trailed in the first 40 minutes of play.
On Sierra Vista’s first drive of the fourth quarter, junior fullback Ricky Cervantes carried the ball 20 yards before senior running back Max Brown went another 60 on the ensuing play for a touchdown. Gladstone blocked Sal Contreras’ PAT to keep a 14-13 lead.
