Is demanding money for high school sports legal: The California Department of Education has ordered Diamond Bar High to refund fees charged for athletic uniforms and football summer camp. Walnut Valley Unified has until Nov. 30 to provide a remedy.
The “fees” required by athletes are typically used as fundraisers for high schools all across the country, but as Diamond Bar and others are finding out, they’re not necessarily legal.
