Reaction to CIF soccer polls: That the Damien boys are in ready to win it all mode in Division 3. Seriously, Damien is a D-1 school that could own this division, especially with Cathedral tying Bishop Amat, and THAT’S the No. 1 team. Diamond Bar is strong too, but I’ll take Damien in this division all day. Sierra Vista might finally get it done in D-3, but where is Baldwin Park? Charter Oak ranked third in D-4 is a shocker, just because it’s CHARTER OAK boys soccer. Who would have thought? I love La Puente’s chance in D-5 and like Nogales’ even better in D-6, though Monrovia and Pas Poly are tough. In girls soccer, Bishop Amat is nowhere to be found in D-2, but I’m guessing now that they got some players back from winter break, they’ll be in the mix. South Hills, Ayala and Claremont can all make deep runs in D-3 girls soccer. I like Ayala, South Hills and Claremont in that order out of the Palomares. Sierra Vista, once again, should be a contender in D-6 girls.
