Charter Oak High School senior Anthony Ortega, who scored the game-winning basket in a 50-48 win against Nogales on Jan. 7 and then found out he has Stage 1 Hodgkin lymphoma, has been cleared to play a few minutes in Friday night’s regular-season finale against visiting Chino.
“He got clearance from his doctor,” Chargers coach Brandon Cunningham said. “He will only be able to play a couple of minutes.”
Cunningham said Ortega will likely start on senor night and play sparingly. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:45 p.m.
The Chargers are 6-14 on the season.
