Coach “totally upset” girls wrestlers weren’t awarded medals at CIF qualifying meet Posted on February 11, 2015 by Fred Robledo Coach disappointed girls weren’t awarded medals: Monrovia High School girls wrestling coach Daniel Hernandez left the CIF-Southern Section Eastern Regional Qualifying Tournament with an empty feeling this past Saturday. It wasn’t because his wrestler, Brianna Dominguez, underachieved. She didn’t. The senior was one of 12 area competitors to score final-round wins. But because this was one of four regional qualifying tournaments to this weekend’s section championships at Roosevelt High School in Eastvale, no medals were awarded, which upset Hernandez. “We were totally upset,” Hernandez said.” Even my athletic director (Randy Bell) was. But we’re new to having our girls program. My athletic director didn’t know what was going on, so he was kind of shocked too.
