SECRET AGREEMENT AT SOUTH HILLS: A year before last month’s teacher/student sex scandals unsettled the South Hills High community, officials in the same school district put together a secret agreement that allowed a coach convicted of theft to keep his teaching credential and resign with little punishment, according to documents obtained by this news organization.
Additionally, the Covina-Valley Unified School District continued to pay softball coach Scott Fisch for more than a month following his February 2014 conviction for stealing money from his team. Though Fisch was ultimately forced to resign, his teaching credentials were not affected because of a plea deal that removed an embezzlement charge. He currently works as a teacher in another school district.
