San Dimas football coach Bill Zernickow, who brought the Saints’ program to relevance over the past decade by winning two CIF-SS championships and making three finals appearances, is moving to Oregon to become the head football coach at Tualatin High School. It is rumored that some of Zernickow’s longtime assistants may take their families and join him as well.
Tualatin is roughly 10 miles from Portland.
“My family and staff can’t wait to roll up our sleeves and get to work,” Zernickow said. “Life is full of adventures and experiences. This new adventure was just too perfect to pass up. How many times in life can you actively teach your family how to trust in God and take a leap of faith.”
Zernickow certainly likes challenges, the Tualatin Timberwolves were 0-9 last season.
“I love the challenge,” Zernickow said. “Can’t wait to get started. I remember before I took the San Dimas job people told me I’d never win.”
Zernickow compiled an 87-37 record in 10 years with the Saints, winning four Valle Vista League titles with CIF championships in the Mid-Valley Division in 2009 and 2013.
After Zernickow resigned Dec. 1, the school hired one of his longtime assistants, Mark Holman, to take over the Saints’ football program.
