Marshall 2, Baldwin Park 1: Early-round playoff home games are ones to cherish.
The Marshall High girls soccer team certainly loved its home-field advantage in its wild-card game in the CIF-SS Division 6 playoffs on Tuesday afternoon. The Eagles bounced their way along the natural grass, and in parts, dirt, en route to a 2-1 victory over Baldwin Park.
“It was a little crucial,” Marshall freshman Samantha Ramirez said. “It brought a lot of nerves with all the people that I know that are here, but we practice here every day, so we’re used to he field.”
Division 7
Ganesha 3, Southland Christian 1 — Alondra Castro, Ireni Melchor and Jamie Lopez each scored a penalty kick for the Giants (11-11-1) in a CIF SS Division 7 wild card victory. Goalie Mikael Wilson had 25 saves for Ganesha.
