Questions and optimism always abound at this time of year. The start of a new high school baseball season always brings with it both of those sentiments. This particular season there’s more than usual.
The offseason brought with it some drama as Bishop Amat said goodbye to wildly successful head coach Andy Nieto, who wound up at Damien. Will Amat continue to thrive? Is Damien about to find the postseason success that’s eluded the program in recent years?
Those are two of the biggest questions, but what about optimism? Every team has it. That’s fair. Some will prosper, most will not. One thing is for certain, though, fans who are excited to see nonstop top-notch action from the first year of the Palomares League probably won’t be disappointed.
Without further adieu, here is this newspaper’s opinion of the area’s top 10 teams entering the season.
