Softball
West Covina 9, La Canada 5 — Senior Maddy Tickey struck out four in three innings and Freshman Nadya Orozco pitched a scoreless last inning and went 2 for 3 and scored twice to lead the Bulldogs (2-0) to advance to the semifinals of the San Dimas Tournament. Nicole Gutierrez went 1 for 2 with two RBIs and Bella Montoya went 2 for 2 with two RBIs and a stolen base for West Covina.
Chino 27, Hillcrest 1 : Chino 2, Murrieta Mesa 0 — Emily Ballesteros had a grandslam and Justine Briones went 3 for 3 with four RBIs, a single, a double, and a triple to lead the Cowboys (4-0) to their third victory at the Upland Varsity Tournament. Tiffany Kennedy Cummings threw a complete game with eight strikeouts and went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for Chino in the second game win.
Workman 15, La Puente 5 — Amanda Guillen went 2 for 3 with three RBIs, a triple and a home run and Driana Ruedas went 1 for 2 with a double and scored twice for the Warriors (0-2) but it was not enough in the nonleague loss.
Baseball
Bonita 12, Warren 7 — Noah Williams went 2 for 2 with two runs scored and an RBI and AJ Woodall went 5.1 innings and struck out five to lead Bonita to advance to the semifinals of the Dicks Sporting Good Classic.
Wilson 14, La Puente 2 — The Wildcats improve to 3-0 overall with a nonleague victory against the Warriors.
Gladstone 11, El Monte 7 — The Gladiators (1-1) got their first win of the season after defeating the Lions (0-2).
Esperanza 4, Damien 3 — The Spartans (0-1) lost at the Newport Elks Tournament.
