Friday Recap: Maddy Tickey and Bella Montoya each had a double to lead West Covina softball to 5-4 victory

West Covina 5, Diamond Bar 4 — Maddy Tickey went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI and Bella Montoya went 2 for 2 with a double, an RBI, scored twice and had a stolen base to lead the Bulldogs (6-1) to the nonleague victory. Freshman Trinity Garcia pitched the remaining 2 and 2/3 innings and got the win and Miranda Gil went 2 for 3 and scored a run against Diamond Bar (4-3).
Bishop Amat 9, Los Altos 0 — Pitcher Alexis Vargas allowed two hits and Alyssa Barrera went 3 for 3 with three RBIs and a home run to lead the Lancers (4-2) to the Charter Oak Varsity Tournament victory.
Chino 2, El Modena 1 — Emily Ballesteros had a two run walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh to lead the Cowboys (6-2) to their second victory at the Tournament of Champions. Tiffany Kennedy-Cummings had a complete game with a strikeout and gave up four hits and one run.
Pomona 16, Bassett 0 — Alexis Garcia pitched five innings, striking out nine and Adreena Ramierez went 3 for 3 with a home run to lead the Re Devils (1-1) to their first Miramonte League win of the season. Daisy Rocha went 2 for 4 and Deja Shelton went 3 for 4.
Charter Oak 11, La Habra 1 — Kaile Chavez went 2 for 4 with two RBIs, two doubles and scored three runs, Taylor Guzman went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and a double and Christine Pinela went 2 for 3 with three RBIs to lead Charter Oak to the Charger Classic Tournament victory. Molly Montell had two RBIs and a double, Camille Greene went 1 for 3 with an RBI and a double and Cloe Ochoa and Marissa Chavez each went 3 for 4 for the Chargers (5-2).
Baseball
Bassett 12, Pomona 8 — Mike Castanon went 2 for 3 with four RBIs and two singles and Frankie Villanueva went 2 for 4 with a double to lead the visiting Olympians (3-0, 1-0) to the Miramonte League victory. Also contributing to Bassett’s victory were Jonathan Torres who went 3 for 5 with three singles and Matthew Robles who went 2 for 5 with two singles. Richard Santana went 3 or 5 with three RBIs, a double and two singles and Daniel Guzman went 2 for 4 with an RBI and two singles for Pomona (1-1,0-1).
