Second-seed Damien led by as many as 18 points before fending off pesky 10th seed Corona del Mar 61-56 to reach the regional semifinals for the first time in school history.
Senior Jeremy Hemsley led the way with 21 points but wasn’t happy with how his team finished with several turnovers and missed shots in the final minutes that allowed the Sea Kings to get close.
