Walnut expected to name Alfredo Silva its next football coach

Alfredo Silva is expected to be named Walnut High School’s head football coach, replacing Mike O’Shields, who resigned following the season. Silva already has been recommended by school officials and is awaiting board approval before being officially named.
Silva was a special teams coordinator and tight ends coach at Whittier College and also has experience coaching at Cal Lutheran and LA Pierce College.
The former Malibu High athletic director most recently has been teaching at Whittier High School.
