BIG WIN OVER ORANGE COUNTY GIANT: The South Hills baseball team showed the depth of its pitching staff with a 3-1 win over Mater Dei in a non-league game on Tuesday.
The Huskies (6-1) used five pitchers in the game and they scattered six hits, struck out seven and walked one in the victory.
“We have two league games this week,” Huskies coach Darren Murphy said. “We came in knowing it was going to be a staff game and all of them knew their role, and they all did a great job.”
The Huskies jumped on top with a pair of runs in the first inning. Frank Ramirez led off with a single and went to second on a wild throw to first.
