Bishop Amat baseball rallies for 7-5 win over Cathedral to take over first in the Del Rey Posted on April 16, 2015 by Fred Robledo Bishop Amat takes over first: In a wild sixth inning, the Bishop Amat baseball team gave up three runs in the top half before scoring seven in the bottom half, leading the Lancers to a 7-5 victory over Cathedral on Wednesday afternoon. The win gave Bishop Amat (10-7-1, 4-1) a commanding lead in the Del Rey League standings by completing the season sweep of Cathedral (9-9, 3-2), which entered the game tied with the Lancers for first place. “It’s a big win for us,” said Bishop Amat coach Joe Hoggatt. “We have the tiebreaker on them now, so going into Friday, we are staying in first and we have a chance to go up a couple games if we keep winning. We beat them 12-1 last time we played and they didn’t like that, and you could tell that they really came out to play today. We were just able to put it together for an inning with that seven-spot and that was what got us the win.”
