Another Peter Lambert outing and another day filled with scouts as the UCLA signee hurled a complete game shutout with 10 strikeouts in a 5-0 win over Northview to run the Saints’ perfect record to 20-0. Lambert gave up five hits, including a lead-off double in the seventh that he made up for with a pickoff. Whenever it looked like the Vikings might strike, that was when Lambert was at his best. The Saints are within seven games of matching Bishop Amat’s San Gabriel Valley record of 27 straight victories set in 1992. Lambert, shortstop/pitcher Jacob Castillo and coach Mike Regan talked about the perfect record and the pressure that comes with it.

STORY: The San Dimas High School baseball team made it 20 wins in a row to start the 2015 season by defeating Northview 5-0 in a Valle Vista League game Thursday afternoon.
Pitching ace Peter Lambert tossed a complete-game shutout with 10 strikeouts and just five hits allowed for his seventh win this year. On the season he has allowed just two earned runs in 47 innings.
Lambert did get into some trouble, allowing nine batters to reach base, but got out of the jam every time. In the bottom of the seventh inning, he gave up a leadoff double to Jaime Curiel, but Lambert picked off the base runner at second base to nullify the threat by Northview (5-13, 0-2).
“When times get tough, you just have to dig deep,” Lambert said, “and that’s what I did out there today.”
