Edgewood junior Idalis Jimenez matched a CIF-Southern Section record with four home runs in Wednesday’s 21-0 victory over Pomona, including two in the same inning in a mercy-shortened five inning game. Jimenez belted a two-run homer in the first, two three-run homers in the second inning, and a solo shot in the fourth to finish with nine RBIS. Only four other softball players in section history had ever hit four homers in a single game prior to Jimenez’s feat. The last to do it was Montclair Prep’s Tamra Freedman 21-years ago in 1994. None of Jimenez’s homers were inside-the-park jobs, she belted all of them over the fence.
