Mike LeDuc is returning to where it all began.
LeDuc, arguably the best boys basketball coach in area history who earned legendary status at Glendora High School, is returning to Damien, where he coached from 1979-86. Damien announced the move on Monday.
LeDuc succeeds Matt Dunn, who left for St. John Bosco after guiding Damien to the CIF-State Division III title.
“I think it’s a great opportunity,” LeDuc said. “Matt has done a great job building that program to a high level. For me, it’s about going home, to where I started. It’s come full circle.”LeDuc built quite a resume at Glendora and in 35 years as a head coach has won 826 games, including 702 with the Tartans.
At Glendora LeDuc won four CIF-Southern Section titles with seven trips to the divisional finals and 15 league championships.
Glendora was 25-5 and shared the Palomares League title this past season. His former players include area legends Tracy Murry and Casey Jacobson. His career win total ranks fourth all-time in California.
