La Puente routs El Monte: La Puente’s baseball team sent 10 batters to the plate in the fourth and fifth innings and picked up its first playoff win since 2011 on Tuesday, knocking off El Monte 10-0 in a CIF Southern Section Division 5 wild-card game. The Warriors (12-10) will travel to San Juan Capistrano to face Capistrano Valley Christian in a first-round game on Thursday.Senior Anthony Villarreal was dominant on the mound for the Warriors. He struck out seven, didn’t walk a batter and scattered four hits as his team won its seventh consecutive game.“Everything was working for me today,” Villarreal said. “My fastball was working for me today and I just tried to make sure I was hitting my spots and my corners.”The Warriors pounded out 11 hits against three Lions pitchers, but the biggest hit was a bases-loaded double by sophomore Matt Marin in the bottom of the fifth inning that cleared the bases and put the final nail in the coffin for the Lions.
