Northview baseball’s Jacob Amaya announces on Twitter he’s going to South Hills, then deletes Tweet

Well, this is first. Northview sophomore Jacob Amaya, one of the best young shortstops around, announced on Twitter that he will be playing at crosstown South Hills next year. The Tweet was posted Wednesday morning and re-tweeted several times before Amaya deleted the tweet less than an hour later. Above I posted a screenshot of his original Tweet.
Amaya, who started as a freshman, is a Cal State Fullerton commit, who will next play for former Northview coach Darren Murphy, now at South Hills. Earlier this year a Baldwin Park lineman announced on Twitter that he was not leaving Baldwin Park while rumors swirled that he was about to transfer. It’s a new world, right? Not sure how CIF will handle this one, but Amaya is big-time, a shortstop and pitcher. On his Perfect Game profile, it says he lives in Rosemead and attends Northview, but that’s not uncommon these days. What’s also interesting is that new Covina Valley Unified Superintendent Richard Sheehan is a South Hills grad with a son on the Huskies’ baseball team. So, we’ll follow how it all plays out, but if it comes to fruition, South Hills is getting one heck of a player.
