Fink’s big game leads Glendora: USC-bound quarterback Matt Fink threw for 298 yards and three touchdowns, and added 124 yards rushing and another score to lead the Tartans to a 42-28 win over previously unbeaten Los Altos at Citrus College.
Sweet leads Bishop Amat: After three years of slugging it out with Bishop Amat, Chino Hills couldn’t keep up this time.Amat running back Torreahno Sweet, starting his first game since a season-opening loss to Mater Dei, scored five touchdowns and Amat never looked back, posting a 63-28 victory Friday at Kiefer Stadium.
Azusa can’t keep up with Montebello: The Montebello High football team is putting up some glossy numbers so far this season. That continued in emphatic fashion Friday night as the Oilers drilled visiting Azusa, 41-7, in a battle of unbeaten squads. Montebello (4-0) stormed to a 20-0 lead early in the second quarter and quickly left no doubt who would remain unblemished. The Oilers have now put up 164 points in four games.
South Hills no match for La Serna: Any thought of the La Serna High School football team starting a downward spiral after last week’s loss to Mira Costa was put to rest Friday.Joe Leal rushed for 89 yards and two touchdowns and the Lancers’ defense was stout for the fourth consecutive game in a 31-8 victory over South Hills in a nonleague game at Covina District Field.
Damien can’t keep up with Claremont: Claremont’s undefeated record is looking more legitimate by the week. The Wolfpack didn’t just elevate the number in the win column Friday night, it defeated its most accomplished opponent yet by its largest margin of the season, handing Damien a 42-17 loss to post the program’s first 4-0 record since 2011.
